A tour of the Cathedral's roof
'Above' the Cathedral.
The "gate of heaven" opens up to visitors as though they were climbing the ladder in Jacob's dream that reached up to heaven with "the angels of God ascending and descending on it".
The Cathedral is opening its door to the very top of the building: a series of rooms never open to the general public before now, and indeed rooms to which no one has had access for centuries apart from the builders under the guiding hand of the great architects who have followed in one another's footsteps down the ages. On reaching the area above the star-spangled vaults, one can walk "above" the nave and admire a series of magical panoramic views both "inside" and "outside" the Cathedral. The "gate of heaven" opens up to visitors as though they were climbing the ladder in the dream of Jacob who, when he awoke, exclaimed: "This is none other but the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven".
